Transformers 4 Kicks Off New Trilogy!

Despite the massive box office success of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which has taken in over $400 million worldwide since opening last Wednesday, there are still doubts about the future of this franchise. Both director Michael Bay and star Shia LaBeouf have stated that Transformers: Dark of the Moon will be their last movie in the series, which has lead many to speculate that Paramount will simply reboot the whole thing.

Producer Don Murphy had a different take on the future of the Transformers, indicating they will start a new trilogy with the same robots. Here's what he had to say below.

What happens next? Certainly not a reboot. We haven't lost the Transformers. They didn't grow up or become expensive like Tobey Maguire. I don't know what happens next. I'm pretty sure there will be a second trilogy. I am pretty sure it will kick ass. And I am pretty sure some of you will hate it because it wasn't all bots.

Paramount Pictures has not announced plans for a follow-up to Transformers: Dark of the Moon yet, but with robust box office figures still pouring in, you can bet the studio has something up their sleeve for more robots in disguise.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon was released June 29th, 2011 and stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Julie White, Kevin Dunn, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Alan Tudyk, John Malkovich. The film is directed by Michael Bay.
